Welcoming Nestlé to see GasAbate in action

Earlier this week, GlasPort Bio was delighted to welcome visitors from Switzerland as part of an on‑farm demonstration of GasAbate, our methane abatement technology for stored livestock slurry.

We were pleased to host Eric Joannet, Head of Global Agricultural R&D, and Neus Bonet, Manure Management Research Specialist from Nestlé, who visited a number of commercial dairy farms to see GasAbate operating in real‑world conditions.

GlasPort Bio CEO Justin McCarthy explaining how our measurement, reporting and verification system allows for automated operation and reporting with GasAbate.

Demonstrating real-world methane abatement at farm level
GasAbate is built on a foundation of rigorous scientific research and independent validation, and is now delivering measurable, verified emissions reductions on working farms. During the visit, Nestlé representatives saw first-hand how GasAbate operates as a fully automated system, integrated directly into slurry storage infrastructure and supported by GlasPort Bio’s measurement, reporting and verification (MRV) platform.

With Nestlé’s strong focus on reducing greenhouse gas emissions from stored manure, the visit provided an opportunity to showcase the performance, reliability and scalability of GasAbate across commercial dairy operations. Demonstrating the technology across multiple farms highlighted its ability to deliver consistent results without disrupting day‑to‑day farming activities.

Supporting Scope 3 emissions reduction across the food supply chain
Reducing emissions from manure management is a critical component of addressing Scope 3 emissions within the food and dairy supply chain. Seeing the full journey - from on‑farm application of GasAbate through to finished dairy products - reinforced the tangible role that proven, deployable innovation can play in driving meaningful emissions reductions at scale.

Third-party assured, independently verified impact
GasAbate has achieved third‑party assurance from The Carbon Trust, verifying a 78% reduction in methane emissions from stored livestock slurry. In addition to methane abatement, the technology delivers further environmental and operational benefits, including:

  • Improved nutrient retention in slurry

  • Reduced ammonia and hydrogen sulphide emissions

  • Reduced slurry agitation time

  • Reduced odours and improved air quality

  • Zero residuals on pasture

All emissions reductions are calculated and reported through GlasPort Bio’s MRV system, enabling transparent, auditable reporting at both farm and programme level.

A sincere thank you to our farm hosts
We would like to extend a special thanks to Cormac, Ruairí and Eamon Cunningham for hosting the visit at Strathroy Dairy near Omagh. Their willingness to open their farm and share their experience of using GasAbate played an important role in demonstrating how climate solutions can be successfully implemented on commercial farms.

GasAbate is already delivering real, verified emissions reductions today - supporting farmers, processors and food companies in taking practical action on climate, while improving on‑farm performance. If you would like to learn more about GasAbate or arrange a visit, please get in touch.
