Game changing technology

GlasPort Bio has developed a whole cycle approach to GHG mitigation allowing farmers to increase their productivity and profitability while reducing their carbon footprint.

preventing methane emissions

Why preventing methane emissions is the quickest way to slow climate change

Methane is 84-times more potent in trapping heat than carbon dioxide (CO2) over a 20-year period, and is thought to have caused approximately 30% of global heating to date. It however is a short-lived molecule in the atmosphere, breaking down within 12-15 years, compared to CO2, which persists in the atmosphere for centuries.

Therefore, if we can prevent methane from entering the atmosphere we can make a rapid and immediate impact on reducing the effects of climate change.
Our approach will support the achievement of the Global Methane Pledge (GMP) made at the COP26 conference to reduce man-made methane emissions by at least 30% from 2020 levels by 2030.

GlasPort Bio whole cycle approach to GHG reduction

GlasPort Bio whole cycle approach to GHG reduction

By means of our technologies, use of the RumenGlas ruminant feed and GasAbate manure additives not only prevents direct emissions from enteric fermentation and manure management, but allows for the retention and use of valuable nutrients. This allows for further indirect reduction of emissions.

Energy gains and improved feed efficiency allows for reduced feed resulting in cost savings to the farmer and a reduction in GHG emissions related to feed production. Locking in of nutrients in the manure allows this to become a more valuable resource when used in anaerobic digestion, and a more potent organic fertilizer when land spread, displacing fossil fuel and mineral fertilizer usage with accompanying GHG savings.

Future-proof your farm

Future-proof your farm

Use of GlasPort Bio’s products allows farms to greatly reduce direct GHG emissions (manure management, enteric fermentation) and indirect GHG emissions (reduced fertilizer, fuel, feed) for a sustainable farm of the future.

RumenGlas ruminant feed additive

It is estimated that between 2-12% of the energy content of feed to ruminants is lost via burping of methane. This represents a major economic loss to the farmer, lost productivity to the animal i.e. feed being diverted away from the animal and accounts for approximately 45% of agricultural emissions in the EU.

GlasPort Bio has developed RumenGlas, a feed additive to reduce methane emissions by 30%. This shall allow farmers to greatly reduce their carbon footprint allowing farming to prosper more sustainably.

GasAbate manure management additive

GasAbate manure management additive

Manure is rich in nutrients and is a valuable renewable resource. However, from the moment it is produced it starts to lose these nutrients as methane, ammonia and other gases. This results in a weakened manure for use on-farm or in anaerobic digestion, while contributing greatly to nuisance odours.

GlasPort Bio has developed GasAbate for improved manure management. Through >80% reduction of greenhouse gases, this helps to lock-in valuable nutrients, reduce malodours and increase the anaerobic digestion (AD) potential of treated manure and slurry.

The greatest problem solvers

We are, after all, the greatest problem solvers to have ever existed on Earth. If working apart, we are a force powerful enough to destabilize our planet. Surely working together, we are powerful enough to save it.
